چکیده
This paper presents an experimental study on the catalytic methane combustion (CMC) in plate-type microreactors with wall-coated Pt/γ-Al2O3 catalyst. Firstly, influence of different operational conditions and coating properties CMC straight parallel-channel microreactor has been investigated. A specific catalyst loading 57.6 g m−2 was found to yield highest conversion over 3.5 wt% Pt/γ-Al2O3. higher or lower tended decrease due either limited internal diffusion through thicker layer insufficient active sites thinner layer. Then, above compared other five geometries, including cavity, double serpentine microchannels, obstacled meshed circuit vascular network. The microchannel geometry presented (especially at a relatively low mixture flow rate) appropriate control residence time surface area.

Catalytic Combustion of Methane
Catalytic combustion is an environmentally benign technology which has recently reached the stage of commercialization. Palladium is the catalyst of choice when considering gas turbines fuelled with natural gas because of its superior activity for methane oxidation. Several fundamental issues are still open and their understanding would result in an improvement of the technology. Hence, the wor...
متن کاملExperimental study of spinning combustion in a mesoscale divergent channel
Quasi-steady and unsteady propagations of methane and propane–air premixed flames in a mesoscale divergent channel were investigated experimentally and theoretically. The emphasis was the impact of variable cross-section area and the flame-wall coupling on the flame transition between different regimes and the onset of flame instability. Experimentally, for the first time, spinning flames were ...
متن کاملAn Experimental Study of Coal Dust Ignition in Wedge Shaped Hot Plate Configurations
Ignition behavior of bituminous coal dust deposited between two hot surfaces forming wedges of 60º, and 90º is experimentally studied. Three thermocouples placed along the symmetry plane of the wedge cross-section at various heights from the apex (lowermost, middle and top) are used to record the transient temperature data. Results show that the ignition always occurs around the region surround...
متن کاملImproving the Performance of Catalytic Combustion Type Methane Gas Sensors Using Nanostructure Elements Doped with Rare Earth Cocatalysts
Conventional methane gas sensors based on catalytic combustion have the drawbacks of high working temperature, low thermal stability and small measurement range. To improve their performance, cerium, which possesses high oxygen storage and release ability, was introduced via nanotechnology to prepare Ce-contained nanostructure elements. Three kinds of elements with different carriers: Al(2)O(3)...
